A Wahpeton man is facing several charges, including felony possession of a silencer, following a Fargo traffic stop where police found a homemade weapon suppressor, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Quincy Jerron Morey, 20, of Wahpeton was arrested early morning Sunday, May 10.
An officer saw Morey’s pickup truck run a red light at the intersection of 11th Avenue North and University Drive North. The truck also struck a curb before being pulled over on 12th Avenue North.
Screening at the scene registered Morey’s blood alcohol concentration at .142. Later, a chemical test confirmed a blood alcohol content of .134. The legal limit is .08.
Police searched Morey’s vehicle following his arrest and found marijuana in a glass container along with a pipe containing marijuana residue in the driver’s door.
In the center console, officers found a .22 caliber pistol with a homemade silencer attached.
Morey told police he built the silencer himself after watching videos online, saying it was a hobby and he wanted to fire his pistol without needing hearing protection.
