The Wahpeton Huskies snapped a three-game losing skid, picking up their second victory of the spring Thursday in a 9-2 win at Border West.
Wahpeton was lifted by strong contributions from bottom-of-the-order bats Ryan Braun and Dylan Vierstraete. Braun went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and three runs scored in the No. 7 spot. Vierstraete went 3-for-4 with a run in the No. 9 hole.
Carter Hockert supplied two hits while driving in a run and scoring twice in the leadoff spot. Aiden Hajek and Rylee Jones each drove in a run.
Hajek continued his strong season on the mound. The senior righty earned the win, holding the Buccaneers scoreless across four innings in a two-hitter. Hajek punched out four batters and did not issue a walk. Hajek lowered his ERA to 1.21 across 17 1/3 innings.
Wahpeton (2-11) heads across the bridge to play Breckenridge (10-3) at 4:30 p.m. Monday. The Huskies have six games remaining in the regular season.
