(NAFB.com) – The American Farm Bureau President went overseas to urge trade progress with Great Britain. In this week’s commentary, American Farm Bureau President Zippy Duvall tells us new markets must get opened up for farmers…
“I recently visited the United Kingdom to discuss the importance of creating new trade agreements for America’s farmers and ranchers. As I met with leaders and toured farms, I was struck with how much in common farmers overseas have with farmers and ranchers here at home.
Unfortunately, outdated information and politics have locked America’s farmers out of the U.K.’s markets. In reality, our farmers grow a healthy, abundant food supply that’s enjoyed worldwide. And when given a level playing field, we can compete with anyone.
It’s time to open up more markets to American agriculture.
We urge the administration to work to secure new agreements and strengthen existing ones. Empower America’s farmers and ranchers to feed families in America and abroad.
I’m Zippy Duvall, president of the American Farm Bureau Federation.”
