N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Governor and his wife along with Superintendent of Public Instruction Kristen Baesler attended the community celebration in Edgeley on December 10, 2013.

An attendance of youth, parents, community members, and area leaders were in attendance.

The evening began with a speech given by Superintendent and Elementary Principal Rick Deigel, followed by the presentation of the North Dakota Plaque given by Governor Dalyrmple and the Superintendent of North Dakota Schools.

Kent Madcke spoke on behalf of the Edgeley Public School Board. Madcke is a local businessman, father, community supporter and he shared his pride in the school system community and referenced what makes Edgeley special as a small rural community.

Following Madcke was Edgeley Community Leader & Mayor Steve Powers. Mayor Powers shared his love of community, stating that “Edgeley has local heroes”. He spoke of the parents, grandparents, teachers, volunteers, fire department, emergency rescue, vast community clubs, and others venues in the Edgeley Community that enable Edgeley to be united in ways that other communities strive to become.

The uplifting speeches and moments of clarity rang true to so many of the audience. Even tears of joy filled eyes throughout the event.

Just prior to the cake & fellowship was a presentation by Edgeley Community Development representative Gene Hanson. Signs will be posted on all corners of Edgeley as you enter Edgeley from the North, South (Hwy 281) and East, West (Hwy 13)

“The true blessing of your community is the people” stated Governor Jack Dalrymple to mother of second grader, Gavin Ascheman. “It certainly is!” she replied.
